Yes. At the end of each session, the coach will personally walk all children either to their parents/carers or to their after-school clubs.
That's ok, all abilities are welcome! For beginners, we start by teaching how the pieces move, beginning with just a few pieces on the board and gradually adding more as they learn and build confidence. Eventually, they’ll be playing full games at their own pace.
No, unfortunately, we currently don’t accept childcare vouchers, but we’re looking into the process and hope to offer this option in the future. :)
Group sizes typically range from 8 to 30 children, which allows a good balance between individual attention and a variety of opponents.
We ensure that all coaches are confident in their responsibilities before assigning them a class. They will be able to shadow an experienced coach, and there will be a supporting coach during their transition to teaching on their own. Also, all coaches must annually complete a Level 1 Safeguarding Course, so that everyone is confident in their ability to keeping the children safe. We provide all lesson plans (with the explanations of each topic) so that no prior in-depth knowledge of chess is needed. We handle all admin and are always available to support our coaches whenever they need!
